A married couple who weren’t able to have children heard of an adoption home where they could adopt a baby. They decided on a boy because girls were too much trouble. Once the couple reached their destination, one of the staff members they met told them of a baby girl that had been there a while. Because she was a quiet baby and rarely cried, her head was flat on one side. The woman saw the child and told the staff “We’ll take her home. I’m a nurse, I can shape her head”. |

The couple took the baby home, and named her Kim, after the movie star Kim Novak, and a black singer named Lavern Baker. What they said about girls being too much trouble was indeed a fact. |
